| The Protocol Hypothesis Testing (pht) approach
is an innovative cooperative information system that includes knowledge
management, decision support, research methodology and communication
networks. It uses a generic framework within and between healthcare
organisations merging the conduct of clinical trial methodology with
the management of individual patients over the continuum of care to
incrementally advance our knowledge in real time about which treatments
work, and to what degree. In turn, this evidence is used by the pht
system to help clinicians, consumers and healthcare organisations
make the best decisions about patient care. |

|
| Implementation of the PHT system is supported by the
Department of Communications, Information Technology and the Arts.
